When people talk about ‘memory’ in tablet PCs or Apple iPads there actually could be a few things at issue. We’ll need to get this straight before discussing Apple upgrades. Most of us mean a device’s storage capacity when we use this term memory. But let’s get clear for a moment about the other meanings related to iPad 3 memory in particular.

You should know what’s at stake before shelling out your cash on a 16-, 32- or 64-gigabyte model. The truth is, ipad memory upgrade can be very confusing. Unlike laptops, these tablets are a closed box when it comes to increasing their memory.

NOTE — Apple is no longer referring to its famous tablet computer with serial numbering like ‘iPad 2’, as if it were the sequel of a blockbuster movie.

Recently, at the big launch Apple CEO Tim Cook simply called it the new iPad and meanwhile the company is applying the word generation to describe its latest releases. So, when anyone says ‘iPad 3’, it’s unofficial.

Now, when it comes to ipad memory upgrade literally what is meant most of the time is how much storage capacity the thing has, how much media it can hold inside it (like money in a bank). This is static or set in stone, if you will. Unlike most laptops, the iPad line cannot be upgraded after you choose your initial amount of this kind of memory! (Again, there are 16G, 32G or 64G models.)

Here are other meanings to bear in mind:

RAM, which means ‘random access memory’: this is what a tablet uses to access its files and apps. Higher RAM means faster performance, rather than more storage of mp3s or what have you.

CPU, or ‘central processing unit’: amongst non-techy consumers this idea is commonly either confused or just throw in with RAM.

GPU, ‘graphical processing unit’: this was called your ‘graphics card’ in desktop and laptop computers.

All of those are quite different from your tablet’s storage or what is commonly called a hard-drive. The Apple iPad3 does not actually contain a spinning ‘drive’ anymore, because the company is a market innovator by using solid state technology (basically a bigger version of the PIN or ‘flash’ drive on your keychain).

Despite this innovative stance, oddly enough, an ipad memory upgrade is impossible once you select your model, strictly speaking. So practically, iPad 2 or iPad 3 memory can only be increased by hooking up an external drive with extra space — but be advised that this requires buying a USB-adaptor for the 30-pin dock connector port at the bottom. Apple and after-market companies do make such adaptors, for a price.

So, please be careful before you buy!

If you can spare the cash up front, and you don’t like fiddling with accessories, then go ahead and spend the extra 100-200 bills for either the iPad 32G or iPad 64G. They’ll have higher resale value, anyway.

(Come on. You know you’re already thinking about the ‘iPad4’.)

For the record: if you want an ipad memory upgrade then you can either upgrade to its third generation at 32-gig or 64-gig, or, get used to carrying around a USB adaptor.

Let’s get straight to the point concerning ipad memory since Apple’s latest product launch: both the old and new iPads have three grades of solid-state memory: 16-, 32- or 64-gigabytes.

Solid state means flash memory rather than a spinning ‘hard disk’ drive. This is the medium that holds all your files, music, photos and videos. There has been absolutely no change to this aspect of iPad3 memory at all.

But you know, many people casually mean to say ‘CPU’ — the processor or chipset — or else, they are thinking about the tablet’s speed, when using the word memory. That is different from storage capacity: literally, what a computer is ‘remembering’ using its RAM memory. Storage capacity can be ‘big’; RAM memory can be ‘fast’. For many, this gets confusing (especially because sometimes modern CPUs are able to borrow performance power from the hard-wired storage memory).

In terms of speed and performance, indeed there is a difference between the iPad 2’s dual-core A5 CPU and the next generation’s dual-core A5X. But as you can see on YouTube videos that compare the two, side-by-side, this difference in computing power is rather slight. When actually using the tablets, it’s hardly noticeable. And some users are questioning whether this difference is worth upgrading from the iPad 2 to the newest ipad following its big March launch.

So in that sense, if we’re just talking about raw computing power, then iPad3 memory is virtually unchanged. And if we’re literally talking about memory as storage capacity, then Apple iPad 3 offers nothing different than the past models. You still have to choose from 16G-64G when you buy one, and then you are stuck with this amount of memory (unless you fancy using relatively clumsy adaptors for external USB drives). But, if you are talking about the RAM memory (this is what actively reads and presents your content, either slow or fast), then iPad3 memory performance has doubled from 512Kb to 1Gb. This, at least on paper, gives fans reason to rejoice.

But there are other, better reasons besides ipad memory (however you understand it) to upgrade to the next generation. Mainly, these improvements are in the area of the screen, the graphics processor and the video camera performance.

‘Retina’ display resolution has doubled to 2048 x 1536.

The graphics power has also doubled.

HD video recording has jumped from 720p to 1080p.

The camera is now 5 mega-pixel.

Bluetooth has been upgraded to 4.0 from 2.1.

and, a 4G network connection is now an option.

These are the aspects that, for example, the best mobile casinos and all game makers will focus upon when improving their apps’ visible performance.

It is fair to say that the ipad tablet pc is not as different on the inside as it is on the outside. iPad3 memory is not really the best way to judge the models anymore.

Apple is expected to sell around 65 million new iPads in 2012, starting with its mid-March launch. But this next-generation tablet’s recent unveiling is turning into a kettle of fish for the computing-culture giant, because of greater attention upon just how the company manufactures its current baby, overseas.

The issue of Apple factory conditions is laced with shocking irony.

The controversy started as early as last year with the production of iPhones made in China actually: demand for them was so great (amidst news reports of people across the West standing in long cues for days) that it not surprisingly lead to a frenzied pace by its Chinese factory contractors.

This situation might have seemed like a capitalist’s dream-come-true – likewise, Steve Jobs’ ultimate confirmation of golden success. Apple iPhone and iPad 2 were raking in record profits; the company was able to rack up hundreds of billions in the bank.

But, alas, the very same global info-culture Apple helped create has come back to check the company’s own ethics, as the reports of inhumane Apple factory conditions for workers in its outsourced production facilities spread virally across the Web.

Recently, hundreds of thousands of e-signatures have rallied behind at least one online petition hoping to bring Apple’s apparent negligence (and hypocrisy) to justice.

A sticky PR problem now exists for any and all Apple products, called into stark question. Chinese workers allegedly were committing suicide because of hardship and injuries at their jobs making the shiny-happy i-things that have become so popular in the West — bad PR can’t get much worse than that!

The sweetness of the expected popularity of an Apple iPad 3 games and apps surely has a sour aftertaste for Tim Cook, Apple’s current CEO — perhaps signalling the end of the euphoric Jobs era, following the latter’s death. Could it be that the massive global choir of fans behind this company is finally seeing through the mist at a corporation as greedy and misbehaving as others?

If there is even a grain of truth in reports of abominable Apple factory conditions then it should give us all cause for a heavy pause. Let’s reflect upon the following few considerations (a short list, really).

Apple makes enough profit to never risk a single worker’s health.

Although the competitive market system does not allow for expensive idealism in start-ups, the mature Apple Inc. has no excuse.

The human cost of outsourcing overall (even to American workers deprived of jobs) is incompatible with the utopian Apple ethos.

Why can’t Apple ‘think outside the box’ by establishing its factories in the USA, after all? On its own soil, Apple factory conditions would be subject to some of the world’s toughest standards.

These and other arguments are certainly food for thought. In fact, the current situation begs the question of how Apple devotees could have ever overlooked how problematic a product made in China was in the very first place!

To be quite honest, super-smart ‘Apple people’ bear an awful lot of responsibility in this mess. — Where do you stand?

Not everything about the new iPad is absolutely ideal, but almost every visible aspect of it is!

Although that statement may not sound like the best endorsement of a device being celebrated as perhaps the world’s greatest portable game-playing machine to date, nevertheless, it remains true that iPad 3’s incredible new display and zippy performance are the current state of the art. iPad gaming will soon reach critical mass, as they say.

Games for iPad (including the best mobile casinos today) must now catch up in high gear to take full advantage of its great potential. Let’s take a quick look at why that is.

The higher resolution screen on Apple iPad 3 — plus the beefed-up graphics processor that makes it come alive — have both been improved two-fold if we judge by its improved specs. That is an enormous jump about to be taken by games for iPad all at once!

On the other hand, the latest generation tablet is about 50-60g heavier, and, its higher performance CPU (a faster brain) reportedly makes the device run a bit hot to the touch when used to play demanding games. Both of those slightly regrettable details will be overlooked by most eager gamers who love the ipad tablet pc — and yet some may stick to the iPad 2 this year.

It will be the games for iPad that should exert the most influence upon consumers who had not previously planned to upgrade. That’s because it is the marvel of well-designed apps such as Real Racing 2 HD, Infinity Blade II, or Mass Effect: Infiltrator that best highlight extraordinary graphics, bright saturated colours and the clarity of the new iPad (or iPad gaming in general).

One kind of game that is particularly well positioned to continue dominating on portable and ‘smart’ devices — arguably the most popular electronic item ever produced — is the online casino and even bingo. Now that the top-of-the-line iPad’s got 4G networking in addition to WiFi, we’ll start seeing much more sophisticated video integration when people enjoy mobile poker and slots for tablets at mainstream sites like Virgin or William Hill.

Gambling online, no matter how one judges its recent explosion in social terms, has already proven itself to be one of the biggest forces in digital culture today. It would be naïve to deny that games of chance are going to continue rising in popularity during the twenty-first century.

After all, games for iPad and for other tablets or mobile devices are fast becoming the most popular form of entertainment in the modern world. The tablet PC may soon rival the printed book as a mass medium par excellence.

The big question, regarding the new Apple iPad 3 due in March 2012, is which memory strategy will take the lead between on-board solid state in the hundreds of Gigabytes, or, the iCloud.

As the iPad 3 leans more on 3G networks (although it will hop onto free WiFi when it wants to), Apple’s cloud storage network will make more and more sense. This follows the trend these days towards nanotechnology and virtualization, beginning with the shift to solid state hard drives (no more spinning disks!). Apple had already pioneered solid state memory in its Mac Air notebooks.

What is the right number of GB for on-board (in other words, offline) iPad memory? The question is more properly: What does Apple think is the right number? And that can also so be interpreted as how much faith Apple is feeling for cloud computing.

Remember that Apple is a trend-setter. And also keep in mind that more offline memory drains more battery energy and processor attention to manage and access it — so, in terms of hard-wired iPad memory and overall performance, a ‘less is more’ strategy may indeed win out.

To ease the pain of the entire battery-charging issue for portables like the iPad 3, Apple may indeed think out-of-the-box yet again by releasing some revolutionary new charging solutions. Wireless charging can completely remove the bother of feeding your device’s battery. Apple’s slick magnetic linkages for its laptop power cords shows its awareness that there needs to be development in the area of charging, it seems fair to say

As with all products, especially electronics, the R&D phase tapers off and the refinement and embellishment phases follow. There are probably a few more generations of iPad with substantive improvements, but then it will most likely become a staple devise for a populace very accustomed to using such things.

Memory is not a detail that most of us like to think about, let’s face it. Whatever amount of iPad3 memory we have, it may never be enough. And owning a bunch of memory sticks is not always easy to keep straight, either. All of these problems point to cloud computing (storage memory your device accesses via the Web) as the near-future solution, even if it is not a perfect solution.

Which is to say, it may not be perfect prior to fully-networked societies, where either 3G or WiFi is always available. In this scenario, which is on its way, the technical focus will shift to the issues of wireless reception, network stability and security.

So, come March, it will be fun to find out how Apple gauges where it stands in the relative evaluation of hard-wired memory alongside its iCloud, which offers unlimited amounts of virtual Web-based memory. We shall see!

There is a relationship between the iPad as an object and the apps that run it. The apps take advantage of the machine’s capabilities and speed. So this relationship is a feedback loop between the devise, the iPad, and the software currently being developed for it, the apps.

Will the next-generation iPad 3 offer as many technical leaps as the 2 introduced? Is that possible?

Perhaps this release will be full of subtler refinements of its predecessor, and rather, it will be an age of further advancements of apps taking fuller control of the technology that is already in people’s hands.

An iPad, fast becoming the epitome of casual computing, has more computational power than the first manned mission to the moon had on board the space ship.

Whatever the iPad 3 brings to the table, massive or subtle, pre-order will be a must, unless you don’t mind acquiring the mindset of a hunter-gatherer to track one down, after the big launch (along with many thousands of others).

Of all the iPad 2’s many advances, probably the most astounding in terms of spurring new apps (especially games) belong in a category that Apples calls ‘Sensors’. These sensing components allow it be behave intelligently when you move it around and hold it in different ways. It can also sense light. Its gyroscope and speed meter provide loads of raw data for programmers to use in the newest apps.

Pre-ordering an iPad 3 may well be an act of sheer love for the product lineage itself. True, the 3 will almost assuredly have more powerful processors, memory and storage space (beyond the most available now, iPad 64GB). Other refinements will very likely be responses to how the designers have pushed the limits of the iPad 2.

Hence, you see the intimate relationship, the symbiosis, between the hardware and the software — all of which in the case of Apple is very exclusive, luxurious and lifestyle-oriented.

But when Apple simply improves upon the basic specs, making its svelte machine faster and zippy’er yet, we will experience even more deeply its many gifts. The 1GHz dual-core processor will probably jump up to at least a 1.6GHz under the hood of the iPad 3. And the current max storage of 64GB will surely increase, opening new possibilities for the iPad as a personal media-bank.

The iPad’s 8mm ‘thin’-ness could not conceivably be improved upon. The size and resolution of the screen, however, may well see some upgrades (not that it needs any, mind you).

Of course, the only way to participate in the culture of the iPad and the lifestyle it promotes is to get your hands on one! Pre-ordering is a very good idea for the tentative launch of iPad 3 in March of 2012.

According to the Apple website, there are about 34 official Apple Stores in the United Kingdom. (Just for some perspective: there are only nine Stores in France.) It appears that the UK is a very strong market for Apple’s wares.

Hence, the UK is served by a plenitude of Apple locations. (HINT: It’s easy to punch up the list online; here’s the link: apple.com/uk/retail/storelist — here you can see where the nearest Apple Store is located.)

It’s true that an awful lot of the communication arts (like Web design) for the English-speaking world are dreamed up in the UK. And guess which kind of computer designers of all ilk overwhelmingly prefer? … designers prefer Apple Mac Pro models.

But, that creative crowd that uses the Apple product is wider than ‘designers’. It also includes musicians, writers and game creators. Macs are also preferred by mothers, politicians, students and wealthy folks in general — let us not fool ourselves about the fact that a silver Mac notebook is a status symbol.

This observation is bolstered by the fact that Apple Stores are sumptuously futuristic joints, clad in warm white and black, with that unmistakeably minimalist or ‘de-constructed’ look. The locations are all choice, as you would expect — Apple lives by its image and reputation, which is why it cannot afford to skimp on its brick-and-mortar properties.

But beyond mere status and pomp, the philosophy of beauty applied by Apple to both its products and its retail venues (where the company performs its tricks) may be something like the following (but bear in mind that it’s just our interpretation). ‘When ideal functionality has been achieved, that bare great-functioning object is naturally beautiful.’

Apple Stores and its devises form a tight fit. Which is to say, you might just feel that you have entered Apple-world, where everything has the same slick surfaces as its laptops, iPods and iPads. This consistency hits your senses immediately.

Given that close correspondence between the look-and-feel of its sales floors and the desktop inside its laptops, you will not be surprised to know that the best way to get all the benefits of a particular Apple Store is to check its profile on Apple’s website (link above).

There you can find hours, directions, maps and see a picture of the showroom. And you will also notice the second purpose of these Stores: instruction. On a location’s profile you can schedule yourself for workshops and tutoring. There are special programmes for kids and businesspeople, too.

The Apple Stores in the UK are an example of techno-chic, if not THE coolest electronic brand that has come alive yet. But the computer age is still very, very young. Apple is well ahead of the field with its spatial image of clean, slightly austere, passionate sensibility. Beauty is a given, its branding seems to say.

Comparing ipod performance on different memory sizes and 2rd generation to 3rd. Does the extra 32 giga make such a big change? Read before you buy any Apple iPod

Compare different sizes and speed of Apple flash memory in iPad or iPod.

iPod is still the most popular apple gadget out there. newer products like iphone or iPad 32GB tablet will take a long time to reach the ipod’s popularity, if it would ever reach it at all. Ipod with 32GB or 64GB can be purchased not only on apple stores but in many other sites online, including used ipods which were upgraded and sold in ebay, Wal-Mart and other online vendors websites

You can read all about iPod 32GB specifications on the ipod manual which can be found online, but most people won’t have the time and patience needed, and after reading the whole thing I can not blame them.

The best model for my opinion is the iPod touch 32GB, with a very reasonable pricing and great user experience. after you get used to the ipod touch, gong back to ipod classic seems impossible, but that’s how technology works.

cost of the ipod touch 32g, or 320kbps speed is about $260. be ready to pay much more on newer models of 6th generation or 7th generation.

many people try to hack their ipod, which usually requires a reset of the memory. It is recommended to educate yourself and get help from someone with experience before you try to hack your ipod touch 32GB. Apple did not plan it to make your life any easier, and many things can go wrong if you choose to do it this way. Apple ipod 64 bit should be treated in the same way, as there is no major difference between the 32 and 64 apart of the flash memory size. a driver might be needed to make some of the adds on.

Apple always use numeric serial names for the different models, so you can search for ipod3.1.3 or 3.1.2 and download the information which is relevant to your ipod. there are many websites with fantast5ic information about ipod 3g jailbreak and other useful information about your ipod.

The 32g wifi memory versus other tablets: The most popular ipad size will probably be the 32 giga, but which one would give best value for your money? Read before you buy

Compare iPad model 16g v 32g v 64g flash memory before you buy it, upgrade is not possible.

iPad tablet specificationand price: heck the table below depending which one of the new ipad memory you choose

iPad tablet 64 gig model not coming with phone, don’t believe the rumors

The medium range iPad 32GB sold at $599 for the Wi-Fi model only, or $729 for 32 GigaBytes 3G.

The best i- Pad tablet 64GB costs about $699. The 64 memory performance is impressive, check it in the apple store before deciding to buy the smaller size models. that will answer many questions like which ipad memory should you get, why ipad 64, and when will apple bring a tablet model with more than 64g.

my friend who stood in the crazy line to get her first ipad said waiting near the store was actually a great experience. now she is addicted to reading online while constantly updating her facebook page and shopping online, but that’s what she did before, so it’s not such a huge difference with the ipad. she says its much more elegant and smooth, and the reading experience is something you need to get used to but she never had tablet reader before
